Recent  Positions:
Fall 1998 to present: ESL and Instructor, Laney College, Oakland
1999 to 2002:  C.B.E.T. Family Literacy Coordinator, West Contra Costa Adult Education.
1995 to 2001:   Coordinator and Adult Education Specialist for Catholic Charities/West Contra Costa Unified School District's Even Start Family Literacy Project.

Previous Teaching Experience:
Thirty-five years of experience teaching ESL and VESL in a wide variety of school settings, including West Contra Costa Adult Education,  job readiness program at San Lorenzo Adult School, ESL and VESL classes at the Federal Correctional Institution in Pleasanton. Two years of experience with the Peralta Community Colleges Refugee and Immigrant Program. Taught EFL for three years in a private secondary school in Japan and served for three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco.

Curriculum Design and Program Planning:
Extensive experience in the creation and implementation of educational programs in response to the changing needs of immigrant populations, including computer literacy programs, the innovative CBET parent education program, the Even Start project, vocational training programs for the Laotian Handcraft Center in Berkeley and a VESL component for a community college vocational nursing program.

Program Coordination:
Coordination of the West Contra Costa Adult Education C.B.E.T. Program, the Even Start Family Literacy Project, and the Laotian Handcraft Center Vocational Training Program. Responsibilities have included training and supervision of staff, purchase and management of materials and supplies, community outreach activities, participant recruitment, design of case management systems, fulfilling data collection and reporting requirements for government contracts.

Grant writing:
Wrote or assisted in the preparation of successful State Department of Education grants for Catholic Charities and West Contra Costa Adult Education.

Teacher Training:
Conducted professional staff development and volunteer training in ESL for the Peralta Community College District, Catholic Charities, West Contra Costa Adult Education, and at CATESOL and Adult Basic Education conferences.


Publications:
"For the Children,"  a chapter on cooperative group writing process contributed to Gail Weinstien's Learners' Lives as Curriculum.
Southeast Asian Parent Education Workshop Guide. 
Parent education and staff training curriculum prepared under a contract with the West Contra Costa Unified School District.
